Best PC Game #2: StarCraft

Wow, there’s an awful lot that could be said about this amazing game. Though it is incredibly old, made back in 1998 (that’s 11 years), it still has millions of players captivated. When you say the word “RTS” there are several games that come to mind but StarCraft is probably the first. I would be awfully short-sighted if I didn’t rank this as one of the best PC games ever. Blizzard Entertainment definitely struck gold when they published StarCraft.

StarCraft has three main races, the Terran, Protoss, and Zerg. The Terran are the only human race. The Zerg are slimy nasty creatures and the Protoss are often referred to as gods, or robots. The human race is probably the race taht you should play when you first start just because they are less confusing and you’ll be able to figure things out easier. They have advanced tanks and nukes and other weapons like that. The Zerg are a little more sneaky and their monsters grow when you advance them and they can be pretty abominable! The Protoss have very powerful war ships, though they are expensive and you can’t have very many of them. They more than make up for that though when all of a sudden you see what seems to be thousands of drones emerge from their warships and demolish the enemy.

StarCraft is easily one of the most played and best PC games in Korea and other parts of Asia. If you happen to ever find yourself in an internet cafe over there, or even play the multiplayer version of the game online, and you’re playing with Koreans….watch out! I guarantee you’ll get your butt handed to you. I definitely do not mean this in any negative way, I’m just saying those guys over there rock at this game.

Well it’s really hard to sum this game up in a short post, but it is a classic and ranks high on the best PC games ever list. One of the most recognizable aspects of the game are some of the sound bytes. If you’ve ever played it, you’ll definitely recognize phrases such as “SCV good to go sir!”, “Goliath online!” or “Ready to roll out!”

If you loved this game as much as millions of other avid gamers, there is good news! StarCraft 2 is in the works. It will not be ready in 2009, but should be available by 2010. Maybe it will be as good and make it into the best PC games ever list.

Best PC Game #1: Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Are you bored of the games you currently have and maybe you’re looking for something new and exciting? Best PC Games Ever has some answers for you and we’d be honored to share our findings.

First up, Need for Speed: Most Wanted. This game is definitely not only one of the best racing games but is also one of the best PC games created up to this point. The plot is you start off with a cool car but it gets cheated from you when you race the current Most Wanted racer. You have to start afresh with a starting car and work your way up the ranks of the Most Wanted list until you are allowed to have a rematch and win your car back.

A Need for Speed game wouldn’t be much without cops, and this version is no exception. The cops are stunning and are really out to get you. You’ll have to be on your A game to get away from them.

The graphics in this game are definitely something that will get your attention. The cut scenes before each race are stellar, providing a mix of computer animation and real actors. You have to see it to understand it. See it. The audio as well is wonderful.  The audio and video of this game combined definitely make it a great candidate for one of the best pc games ever. You’ll feel like you’re really being chased when the cops come on the radio. The cool thing though is that sooner or later you’ll figure out what they’re up to and perhaps you can escape their attempts to stop you.

If there are any bad aspects of the game to be discussed, it would be the AI of the racers. Even if you get in a huge wreck and lose tons of time, you can catch up. On the flip side, if you do awesome, they’re right behind you. So it’s not the most realistic. It leaves each race down to the last few turns and could provide a bit of frustration.

Overall however, this game rocks and I have no hesitation as hailing it as a candidate for one of the best PC games ever. From the stunning graphics to the great audio quality to the thrill of escaping from the police, Need for Speed: Most Wanted will give you a great gaming experience.
